The Complex General Surgical Oncology Board (CGSOB) of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) is seeking one nominee to serve a six-year term. The CGSOB consists of approximately 15 members from across surgical oncology specialties, serves as a resource of knowledge, skill, wisdom, and expertise, and is where issues pertinent to the practice of complex surgical oncology are discussed.
This is call is separate and distinct from the annual call for Council nominees from the ABS. This call is also being disseminated broadly, and as such, we are soliciting potential applicants from all relevant surgical societies that may have previously provided nominee information last fall in response to the ABS's call for nominations.
In addition to commitment, availability, loyalty, and ability to keep confidence, individuals with one or more of the following characteristics are sought:
Emphasis will be placed on elements of diversity across all dimensions, including race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or other elements that bring a different voice to the organization.
The time commitment including exams is approximately 10-14 days/year
Nominees will be accepted from societies, peers, or self-nomination. All nominations must have a letter of support (i.e., completion of the Nominator/Support Form) from either an organization or from an ABMS-certified physician.
